  Frances Hollis Brain Foundation

The Frances Hollis Brain Foundation reviews all grant requests through the lens of how best to provide for basic needs, alleviate suffering, and improve the human condition.

Fields of Interest

The Foundation primarily supports non-profit organizations that benefit individuals living in Kentucky, Georgia, and Maine and that:

· increase access to health care,

· support human services,

· provide access to educational opportunities, or

· promote self-sufficiency and the ability to provide for self, family, and  community.

Priorities

Priority will be given to organizations and projects that:

· support the underserved, the disadvantaged,  or those who do not have the resources to provide

opportunities for themselves, and that

· demonstrate a broad base of community support.

Types of programs the Foundation WILL support

The Foundation will support new programs, ongoing programs, and capital improvements, and will provide general operating support in certain circumstances.

Types of programs the Foundation will NOT support

The Foundation will not provide funding:

· to individuals,

· for special events, productions or performances,

· for annual fund appeals,

· for tickets to charitable events or dinners, or

· for political purposes.

Unique situations

To allow for the flexibility to respond to special circumstances or changing conditions, the trustees retain the right to consider compelling ideas that do not fall within the stated guidelines.

Typically grants will not be awarded to support projects requiring a multi-year commitment.

Organizations that have received a prior grant from the Foundation will not be eligible to submit another application until the Foundation directors have received a written report on the results of previously funded projects.
